UNTP Sectoral Fora site design

The UNTP Specification site - untp.unece.org - will be supported by industry sector specific "forum" sites that will each support multiple "communities" that will actually implement UNTP via a community activation plan (CAP).

Unlike the UNTP core site, which is primarily targeted at technical implementers, these industry fora are targeted at a business audience. The best mental analogy for these sites is that they each represent a kind of conference centre that is focussed on the traceability and transparency interests of large industry sectors:

The content currently in the textiles and CRM repositories is currently more focussed on "technical extensions" specifications. However that will change as UNTP modifies it's governance framework. Even though there may be better platforms for static site generation and content management, we will use GitLab because it is an official UN infrastructure and can be setup with official UN domains. Probably each fora site will be served on a sub-domain domain like

  • textiles.untp.unece.org
  • crm.untp.unece.org (or cetm.untp.unece.org - for critical energy transition materials)
  • agrifood.untp.unece.org
  • construction.untp.unece.org
  • and so on - might be up to a dozen of these fora.

Each of these industry Fora will host many Community Activations. Initially a small handful per forum but eventually hundreds. Think of these like meeting rooms at the conference centre.

Each Fora Site

  • Splash: Needs a splash image and purpose statement - including who the site is targeting (UNTP implementation communities and their members)
  • Activity : Forum level meetings and events calendar (these will map to the UNECE Team of Specialists activities). Mailing list & chat channel links.
  • Motivation : Information on why a member organisation (eg an industry association) should consider launching a UNTP community activation and what benefits they can expect for themselves and their members.
  • Related Work: List of relevant related activity in this sector - standards, other IGO activities etc.
  • Main Body : List of Communities already established in this forum. Initially probably a set of tiles with name & description of each community (eg "Australian Livestock Industry" might be a community in the Agri-Food forum. Or "Global Copper Mining & Refining" in the CRM forum.
  • Footer: List of relevant UNTP and other links (eg CAP, BCT, IAF)

For Each Community in a Forum

  • Clicking on a home page tile takes the user to a community level page. It also has a splash image and a purpose statement.
  • Community Owner name & contact information and information about how the community is governed. Mailing list & chat channel links.
  • UNTP implementation status and list of pilot implementation and outcome reports (case studies).
  • Community level normative UNTP implementation information (note that these lists would typically be filtered and rendered views of the corresponding UNTP implementation register)
    • List of Credential extensions (eg a Livestock Passport as a conformant extension of a UNTP Product Passport).
    • List of relevant product & facility identifier schemes and their IDR implementation status
    • List of relevant product & facility conformity schemes and their CVC implementation status
    • List of software systems (eg farm management systems) that are in use amongst community members and their UNTP credential issuing implementation status.
