Historical and as-of verification after withdrawal Appendix A.4.2 states that, after withdrawal, the Registrar's metadata and public keys are removed from active discovery and previously issued DIAs may no longer be discoverable or verified through GRID. Trade records may require later verification for audit, financing, insurance, regulatory review or dispute resolution. Removing the active entry without preserving time-specific evidence may prevent a relying party from proving that the Registrar and signing key were valid when a transaction occurred.

Proposed Changes

Proposed change Maintain a tamper-evident, versioned historical verification archive separate from active discovery. Preserve prior Registrar metadata, public keys, key status, effective dates, suspension and withdrawal events, and relevant status-list versions. Provide an 'as-of' verification method that can confirm the Registrar and key status at a specified transaction time. Clearly label withdrawn or superseded entries as historical and prevent their use for current trust decisions.
