How might ISO 8000-116 be relevant to the Digital Identity Anchor (DIA) specification and/or implementation guide
ISO 8000-116:2019 is a technical standard that defines the format for "Authoritative Legal Entity Identifiers" (ALEI). While many countries have their registries "mapped" to this standard by organizations like ECCMA (the Electronic Commerce Code Management Association), few have incorporated the specific ISO string into their primary national company law. Instead, adoption typically happens through regulatory data standards and international trade frameworks.
My [JP] research outcome suggested: "In 2026, as more countries move toward "Paperless Trade," the ALEI (ISO 8000-116) is gaining ground because it doesn't require small businesses to pay for a new LEI number. They can simply "wrap" their existing tax or registration ID in the ISO 8000-116 format to meet international shipping requirements."

The question is:
- Does ISO 8000-116 add value to our work for the DIA specification and/or GRID?
- If the answer to 1) is yes, then how should we include consideration of ISO 8000-116?
